Hi, My name is Josh Baker…. and if I had to be honest with myself…. I’m legalistic. I often bash people who bash people. I’m legalistic against legalism. and I have let my bible become more of a textbook than a lifebook.
Ok, so it’s been awhile since my last blog, sorry for wait. But i honestly knew of nothing write or blog or post about. Apparently I have gotten the twitter bug in my system because i am in love with quotes. lol. As you can probably tell by how many quotes there are compared to blog entries.
The other week i went to my girlfriends house, as i do every weekend, and me and her dad got talking. He had been on Google Earth and was just messing around, and came upon Bethlehem and Jeruselam. As he zoomed out of the map to where you could see the whole earth, all you could see was green and right in the middle was this little brown spot. If you look at it on Google it looks as if there is nothing over there except sand and dust. No vegetation, no streams of water, no life forms other than the humans that inhabit the land.
As I got looking at this more and more a thought popped into my mind:
Jesus not only died cruelly, but he lived cruelly too. God could have placed him in a land with vegetation and lush greenery, but no, God placed His son in a dry desert. Jesus was born roughly, lived roughly, and died roughly.
Think about that, we live the good life. There are trees and streams of water everywhere. If you look out west to arizona or nevada, most of the population stays away from the desert. Why? because its a whole lot rougher living in a desert than in another area with grass and trees and water. But the very places that us humans try to avoid today, is where God placed His son to do ministry.
Do you feel dry and parched in your spiritual life? Do you feel like your in a desert and you cant see any trees or water anywhere around you? Just remember, God may be puting you in the desert so that He can build you for a great ministry, like Jesus. Also, When you feel parched and dry… Go to Jesus who is the Living Water and Bread of Life. God may of put you in the desert so that you have a greater dependency on Christ. Just think about that…
Ephesians 3:20 is one of my all time favorite verses: Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine… That’s a hot one right there. An astonishing promise. God can do so much more than what you’re expecting.
amazing…
Do not be afraid, just believe
Hey y’all, so as most of y’all can probably guess, my little computer fast did not last even a day. But that’s OK! God doesn’t want me to give up my computer or ipod or anything like that. He simply wants me to come close to Him! I have this book that i like to read at least once or twice a year, it’s by Louie Giglio. The name of the book is “The Air I Breathe.” It is a very small book, with a very big message and has made a huge impact in my life. The basic summary of the book is that we were made by God to worship. As i read tonight Louie showed some scripture which i want to share with you. It is Acts 17:25-27:
25nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;26and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,27that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;
This really hit me hard, The whole reason i wanted to fast from my computer was so that i could get closer to the God who sent His son to die for me. But really, That’s what He made us for, God made us to that we would “Grope” for him, yearn for him, seek Him, search for Him.It’s so simple! People today always ask, “What is the purpose for life?” Well its simply to seek, search, yearn, and grope for God! To praise Him and to Worship Him with all I am, which is a creation of His. So I came to the realization that yes i can fast from technology all i want( and yes this is good to do every so often) but as long as i am searching and seeking for a more intimate relationship with Christ, i am living my life’s purpose. Groping for God!
Every last one of us has been created with a searching soul, designed that way by God so we would find no rest until we find our rest in Him.
